About the role

We're a late-stage fintech looking for an experienced full-stack engineer to own our invoicing pipeline end-to-end. Expect ownership, not tickets. You'll be working directly with the head of engineering on a small, high-trust team. The product handles real money moving between businesses every day, so the bar on correctness, observability, and customer communication is high.

Day one you'll scope a redesign of our PDF invoice generator; day 30 you'll be driving the rollout of our new reconciliation worker on top of Postgres + Kafka; day 90 you'll be shipping features across the stack with minimal supervision.

We care more about judgement than any specific stack. That said, our codebase today is TypeScript everywhere — Next.js front end, NestJS API, Postgres, BullMQ/Kafka, deployed on AWS.

What you’ll do

• Own the invoicing + reconciliation pipeline end-to-end
• Partner with the head of engineering on architecture decisions
• Ship customer-visible improvements weekly
• Document patterns so the next hire onboards in days, not weeks
• Rotate on-call once every 6 weeks (minimal load)

What we’re looking for

• Strong TypeScript across both frontend and backend
• Production experience shipping payment or invoicing systems
• Comfortable with message queues (BullMQ, Kafka, or equivalent)
• Writes tests that catch real bugs, not just coverage
• Has operated on-call rotations and knows what "production-grade" actually means
