About the role

Ship the v2 of our consumer iOS + Android app. React Native, offline-first, 200k DAU and growing 12% MoM. You'll lead the rewrite from a brittle 2021-era app onto a modern stack — Expo Router, the new architecture, MMKV for offline storage, and a clean event pipeline back to our analytics warehouse.

We believe the next 18 months of growth come from a faster, smoother app — not from new features. Your work will be measured in cold-start time, frame drops on mid-range Android, and the rate at which users return after their first session.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the v2 rewrite from architecture through App Store release
  • Own the Expo Router migration and the new state/data layer
  • Set the performance budget and the regression-test harness around it
  • Mentor one junior mobile engineer joining alongside you
  • Partner with PM + design on the rollout sequencing across both stores

What we’re looking for

  • Shipped at least one production React Native app at 50k+ DAU
  • Deep in the new architecture — Fabric, TurboModules, Reanimated 3
  • Comfortable in TypeScript end-to-end + native modules when needed
  • Has built offline-first flows with conflict resolution, not just caching
  • Cares about cold-start, jank, and battery — not just feature velocity
