About the role
Own the React + Figma design system for a 30-engineer product team. You'll be the bridge between the in-house design team and engineering — shipping tokens, primitives, and patterns the rest of product builds on. Strong opinions on accessibility, theming, and component API ergonomics are essential.
What you’ll do
- Own the token + primitive layer of the design system
- Ship the Storybook + docs the rest of product reads first
- Drive the accessibility audit + remediation roadmap
- Partner with the in-house design team on the next visual refresh
- Mentor two frontend engineers joining alongside you
What we’re looking for
- Has owned a production design system used by > 20 engineers
- Fluent in React + TypeScript + the modern CSS story (container queries, cascade layers, anchor)
- Comfortable in Figma — knows what a great handoff actually looks like
- Strong accessibility instincts — WCAG 2.2 isn't a checklist for you
- Communicates trade-offs in plain English to both designers and engineers
