About the role

Build our infra from zero. Terraform, EKS, CI/CD, observability — the platform layer the rest of engineering will be building on for the next three years. Foundry is six months old, well-funded, and about to scale the team from 4 engineers to 25 over the next year.

You'll be the first platform hire. The work isn't gluing AWS services together — it's setting opinionated defaults (deploy patterns, IaC layout, secret management, on-call) so every engineer who joins after you ships safely on day one.

What you’ll do

• Ship the first platform layer — networking, clusters, base deploy pipeline
• Define the Terraform module structure the rest of the team builds on
• Set up secrets, IAM, and the security-baseline runbooks
• Roll out logs, metrics, and tracing with a clear cost ceiling
• Write the on-call runbook + run the first three months of the rotation

What we’re looking for

• Built production infra on AWS from scratch — VPC, EKS, RDS, IAM
• Fluent in Terraform with a module-first mindset
• Has shipped a CI/CD pipeline used by 10+ engineers without becoming the bottleneck
• Strong opinions on observability — knows the trade-offs between Datadog, Grafana stack, and OTel-native
• Has owned on-call and can design a rotation other people will actually want to join
