Every freelancer applies, not the other way around. We review portfolios for proof of shipped work, run a paid 1-week trial sprint for senior roles, and assign a starting Quality Index score that updates with each completed project. Roughly 14% of applicants are accepted.
02What does it cost to post a job?+
Posting is free. Loxala charges a flat 8% service fee on the contract value once a freelancer is hired and the first milestone is paid. There are no monthly subscriptions, no per-message credits, and no charges for shortlisting or messaging candidates.
03How does payment work?+
All payments are held in escrow. Clients fund the milestone in advance; the freelancer only sees the work begin once funds are confirmed. Loxala releases the payment within 48 hours of milestone sign-off — and protects work-in-progress payments in the rare case of a dispute.
04Do you handle invoicing, tax forms, and contracts?+
Yes. Loxala issues VAT-compliant invoices for EU/UK clients, 1099-NEC forms for US freelancers, and supports W-9, W-8BEN, and reverse-charge VAT. Our short-form MSA is approved by most procurement teams in under 5 business days; enterprise clients can use their own paper.
05What if the freelancer isn't a fit?+
The first week is a no-questions-asked replacement window. Pause the engagement, tell us what missed, and we'll line up two alternates within 48 hours — no second placement fee. The replaced freelancer's Quality Index gets recalibrated, which is how our top tier stays honest.
06Can I hire on retainer instead of project-based?+
About a third of Loxala talent works on retainer — usually 2 days/week or 40–60 hrs/month. Brand directors, fractional CMOs, and design leads particularly. Retainers can run through your standard MSA or our short-form agreement.
07What's Skill Matcher and is it included?+

08Can I hire across borders?+
Yes — 7 countries today, with Loxala handling currency conversion, tax forms, and contractor classification. We don't yet offer Employer of Record / W-2 conversion; for those, we partner with Deel and Remote. Ask a hiring partner for an intro.
